Your physical safety is important when you’re using your Oculus headset. That’s why you’ll need to set up the Guardian boundary for content and experiences in which you move around in the real world at the same time as you’re moving around in the virtual world. This virtual boundary will help you stay within your cleared play area. It will appear in your VR experience when you’re near or touching its edge.
Please note that the Oculus Guardian Setup must be performed every time after booting up the laptop. Whilst some headsets may remember the previous location it is important that the setup is 100% accurate so that Fundamental Surgery can run smoothly.
The Oculus Guardian system can be set up from the Oculus app (Devices -> Click on Headset image -> Guardian) to create safe boundaries for when in VR.
- Open the 'Oculus' app from the desktop
- Once the Oculus application has started navigate to the ‘Devices’ section located in the menu on the left-hand side
- In the ‘Devices’ section click on ‘Guardian Setup’
- Follow the instructions presented on screen to finish the set up. You will need to use the headset and Touch Controllers for this set-up
Define your play area: Click on stationary boundary
Define the floor level in VR: Tab your right controller gently on the floor. The virtual grid will drop to the actual floor level and match the real environment.
Confirm the settings and return to the Home tab.
